Rate-limit handling HTTP 429 auto-backoff

The idea

Commercial tweet-deletion services charge steep subscription fees and demand full write access to your social credentials on third-party servers. XCleaner runs entirely inside the user’s logged-in browser session via userscript managers with zero DevTools, zero token copying, and zero telemetry.

How it works

Injects an in-page floating control panel into x.com using client-side GraphQL query endpoints. Implements smart date range filtering, pinned post protection, and whitelist preservation with automatic backoff retry queues when encountering X rate limits (HTTP 429). A daily GitHub Actions workflow automatically synchronizes changing X GraphQL query IDs.

Outcome & impact

Published on Greasy Fork and GitHub as a transparent, MIT-licensed open source privacy tool used for stress-free X account cleanup.
